The Dark King

Welp I guess the rainy fall weather has gotten my mind into flowery story mode because I have another short story.  :)  I think this is the closest together I've done posts in a lonnngggg time so I hope you like it!  Just a heads up, this is kind of a gloomier story but I guess it matches the weather...

Dark rain clouds loomed overhead.  A slight mist was raining down from the heavens and the dark cement of prison turned darker still as raindrops bled down.  If you looked up to the top of that towering building you would see a crow.  He was an abnormally large fellow.  His feathers were black as pitch and his yellow eye surveyed the land.  This is his territory--his kingdom.  He knows every foot that treads there, every leaf that falls.

Each morning he perches atop his castle, brooding over his people.  A man here, another there, all scattered about but all the same.  A cookie-cutter orange is all he sees.  He likes it that way for the sake of unanimity.  One action out of line and a screeching “caw” rings through the courtyard of the prison.  Every inmate slowly turns to see their king upon his throne.  Prowling above, high in his glory, he ruffles his feathers to shake the rain.  One inmate, new to this fictional kingdom, scowled up at the crow.

“This blasted bird won’t shut his beak.  I’m sick of his crowing and squawking about.”

He was tired of authority...tired of cement walls...tired of the dark, looming clouds above.

How dare this bird mock me, he thought to himself.  I’ll show him what for.

In the courtyard, he found many large stones, easy to fit in the palm of his hand.

The king, watching his orange-suited men, saw something not to his liking.

“Caw!”

He let out a cry, warning them of their misconduct.

The inmate, seeing his chance to quiet the bird once and for all let his stone fly.  Up, up, up, it soared--and hit its mark square in the eye.

A flinch and a droop were all you could see until the dark guardian slipped into darkness.  From the top, he fell.  Down, down, down, to the soggy ground like a leaf from a tree.  His body landed with a thud.  His days of kingship were done.

The rain dribbled on, and after pausing a moment the inmates carried on about their mornings unbothered. An eerie silence settled over the prison courtyard. Although no man might admit it, each inmate would miss their king and his odd sense of normalcy.

The Weeping Flower

I've had the idea for this story for a while now but I never got around to writing it.  It had kind of been on my mind and I hadn't been "creative" for a bit so I decided to work on it.  And apparently, I had some creative juices that needed to be let loose because it kinda just flowed once I started.  I don't really know what this is...maybe a short story?  Either way, I hope you enjoy it :)

A bed of flowers silently glistened in the rising morning sun.  Fresh dew clung to the yellow and pink petals.  Their faces reached wantingly to the rays that nourished them causing the green stems upholding their stunning heads to lean slightly to the east.  Amid the ravishing beauty, a lonesome flower drooped.  Down to the soil, the stem bent, and his once beautiful head was a sad sort of brown.  The other flowers seemed to loom overhead in a scoffing dismissal of the pitiable flower.  Unbeknownst to them, the lonesome flower was not wilting, but weeping instead.  He knew the frosty grip of winter was quick on the way and that ravishing beauty would be quick to fade.  His head sunk and his wails arose, dropping petals one by one.  The majestic pink faded more and before long he was a dark brown with no hint of his past life.  The other flowers scoffed still and laughed in the face of the weak little flower.  But little did they know that a frost was coming the next morning.

As the sun rose and peeked over the distant trees, the dew clinging to the yellow and pink petals did not glisten, but froze in place, immovable.  The weight of the frozen dew caused their heads to sink.  A cold breeze whistled through the green stems, causing them to wilt.  By the time the sun was high in the sky, every flower, once held high in their majesty, was sunken to the ground.  The flowers wailed at their own agony and realized how short-lived their beauty truly was.  For a time there was silence in the once radiating bed.  The sun continued to rise, but no shouts of glory were being raised.

However, in midday, while the frozen flowers were still held down by the crystal weight, the one lonesome flower began to rise.  The sun looked down and had pity on the humble flower, so she smiled down at him and nourished his weeping body.  By the end of the day, there was a singular flower standing tall, rejuvenated by the sun herself.  Every person that passed the little flower stopped to wonder at his beauty and grace amid the death surrounding him.

For the first time, the prideful flowers looked up at his true majesty and marveled at his incredible hue.  “If only we had revoked our pride...we should have listened to you.”  But the flowers did not complain--they learned their lesson and knew that they deserved their fate.  They just sat and watched the lonesome flower, the strongest of them all.

Clouds

Oh my gosh, you guys...I'm actually not dead haha! 😂  I've been a little busy with an important thing called life so I haven't really had the time to blog...in a while.  But now with all this quarantine going on, and because of a stunningly beautiful cloud-filled sunset, I became very inspired.
I recently bought a book at a fabulous little store in Maryville called Five Bellow.  Everything in the store is--you guessed it--five dollars or below.  Amazing!  This book was a poetry journal meant to help inspire its owner to write beautiful works of art.  There are prompts on each page to get you thinking about what you can write, as well as a word association on the side to include in the poem to challenge the writer a bit.  It is also helpful in case you find yourself inspired, but at a lack of flowery, poetic words--a quandary in which I often find myself.
Anyway, to keep what was meant to be a short story long, I bought the book and haven't really been motivated to use it.  The first time I pulled it out, the thoughts just weren't flowing.  So tonight, on this brisk, beautiful evening, I adventured outside to lumber around if we're being honest...nothing particular in mind...but I brought this piece of work with me as well as an engaging C.S. Lewis book to keep me company in case inspiration didn't.  The sun started sinking behind our glorious Smoky Mountains and dazzling rays of pinks and blues broke out across the sky.  The atmosphere was dotted with puffy white, pink, purple, and blueish hue clouds.  Certainly, with all this majesty surrounding me, I could find something in my brain to probe myself to write.  I flipped through my book and behold!!  On the second page, the prompt said Clouds.  Aha!!  I had beaten my inspiration block at last.  Staring into the beauty the thoughts gushed out.  So, without further ado, my poem:

Clouds:
Clouds cover the sky like a spotted blanket
All scurrying the same direction for a banquet.
They swarm the sky like locusts but none the same...
Each has a story to tell with its billows tame.
But far they are from that--when delight is had
Anger fills the glorious puff--to see majesty go--sad
Alas, the anger is more powerful and majestic still.
At first, a slight mist, then Creation cowers at its will.
Thunderheads loom into sight.
Nothing can tame this incredible might.
Lightning cracks and thunder booms,
A sound so loud it could vaporize moons.
All the names that science can give:
Nebulous, cumulous, they are all nature's sieves.
Nourishing the strong or cutting down the weak.
Such beauty containing such violence--my.
But at the end of the day, they do not die.
They rise like ancient warriors on light's beautiful rays
Bringing hope for the future, another day.

The World

Hello, again!  I have been reading in school (funny how it sometimes inspires me) about the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment.  Seeing as how I am a Christian, these events were good for science, yes, but not much else since it led most people away from Christ and towards science only for answers.  So in light of that, (haha I'm so punny) I hope you enjoy this different kind of poem on my views.  :)

The World
The world has made up its mind
And with their eyes, they see and ponder
But in reality, these eyes are blind.
Though somehow they are pleased to wander
A galaxy so infinite and neat.
Their minds cannot seem to fathom
All of these interesting phenomenon they meet.
But what they do not realize: it all started with Adam.

They think they know a great many things
With their smart computers and a big telescope,
As featured as kings
But back in reality, they have no hope.

Sounding smart is not a hard thing to do.
Being smart, on the other hand, is different.
You must grasp what is true.
And that is all things magnificent.

Although they grope the universe for something to complete them,
The world has never been good at seeing what's straight ahead.
It is the glorious king, ready to condemn.
Rise up, brother, see the truth and be saved from dread.

For when all ends and judgment day has come,
The pain, nothing can numb.

Yours sincerely,

A Delightful Sensation

Well, I'm here again.  Long time no write!  ;)  For the same school assignment I was writing another poem, and this time I was inspired by the wonderful smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air from my sister's coffee cup.  Yum!

 A Delightful Sensation
A delightful sensation tingles up and down.
No one can produce a frown.
This lovely aroma fills the air
But no one wants to share.
Its beans are dark as chocolaty pitch.
Never has been found a flavor so rich.
But the true magic is found
When these beans are ground.

Water trickles delicately through;
No one can find a taste so true.
But to Columbia you can go
To find where these beans grow.
Brew your own coffee
Some even sweeter than toffee.
But you must be quick
So no one pulls a trick.
This liquid more precious than gems
You want only to fill your limbs.
Drink it all drip by drip
So that you can take another trip.

Sincerely,
~TheNerdInGlasses~

Winter is Coming!

Hello, my Friends!
It's been a hot minute....actually it's been pretty cold here...but I haven't written in a while.  Especially poetry.  I mean c'mon.  High school is pretty strenuous, and with all the essay and report writing I've been doing I haven't really been in the mood for fiction and the like.  However, I have a poetry assignment for school, and I rather liked the one I came up with so I figured I'd share it with you all. I was inspired by all this cold weather, and since I've been very cold today, I thought it was perfect. :)  Like usual, I hope you enjoy today's morsel!

Winter is Coming
As fall fades and winter comes,
Everything is shriveled and dead, except the mums.
Their bright pop of color is cheerful on a gloomy day
When nothing else is happy that way.
Their bravery to face the cold
Almost has me sold.
But alas, to go outside is a mistake
Least Father sends you with a rake.
You can expect giant blisters on your hands,
Very capable of ruining your plans.
Although you wear a scarf and hood
Just as any sane person would,
Jack Frost cannot be denied a visit.
Agh!  And just when you think you have cried explicit,
Once again a wind rushes in behind.
Oh, how I wish I could rewind.
Back to the vivid, vivacious days of spring.
No one needs the coldness winter brings.

Sincerely,
~TheNerdInGlasses~

Fireflies

I have been recently inspired to write a little poetry and thought I'd share it with you.  I was outside one evening in the beautiful spring weather when I saw lots of fireflies lighting up the sky.  So I ran inside and grabbed a peice of paper and wrote down my own little story.  Hope you enjoy!

Fireflies

Oh what a glorious night

When the lightening bugs take flight!
They sing in a rhythmic tune
Not all at once, but very soon.
If you look closely you'll see
Flashes of light: one, two, three.
Hush, be silent! but no one hears a sound
Just the melancholy rays all around.
Although they move in chorus,
Not one has the same story of the forest.
Up in flight they flutter.
To the atmosphere they shudder,
Until dropping to the ground, shrivelled and cold...
Don't fly to high--don't be too bold.
Your frail wings can't go too far
Best only to dream of the stars.
Look yonder!  Here comes one now
Flapping lightly past the cow.
In a vigorous attempt I flail,
Openeing my hands I see it wail.
"What's wrong little firefly?"
It twinkles ever so softly by and by,
Telling me its story:
"I only wish to fly once more
Up to the clouds and out to shore.
Up with my family twinkling like stars.
Please, please, don't keep my behind these bars!"
I understood his plee quite well,
So I opened my hand and down he fell.
But soon he aronse like the morning sun.
The deed was done.
Up into the starry night he flew
Oh, how I wish I could fly too.

Yours Sincerely,

"Offension"--Me?

"Offension?  What in the world is that supposed to mean?"
This question or one similar to that probably raced through your mind as you read my title for the first time.  Perhaps your brain was stimulated by something in the title that seemed new and intriguing.  Well, let me go ahead and get my initial thoughts out of the way.  I started this blog post for a very specific reason.  It is this: if you are the kind of person who takes things too literally and gets offended easily, stop it!  Getting offended isn't going to change anything.  Besides, if you easily get offended, the main thing you'll spend your time on is getting offended.  Think about it...how many conversations a day do you have with people?  (You can approximate a number in your head if you like.)  Now multiply that number times 600.  Divide by 2.  That is how many times you could possibly get offended a day.  However, that is not completely accurate as that is the lower portion of the figuring.  Let's say you have 20 conversations a day.  When the math is completed, that would mean that you had the possibility of getting offended 6000 times a day.  That's only with 20 conversations!  Say you're a high school student or a college student and you see classmates in every class all day.  Even if you're an adult and you have a job think of all the co-workers you talk to a day.  You most likely have many more than twenty conversations a day.  Plus, we aren't even including texting conversations or phone calls, where you could still get just as easily offended.

Now to explain the "Me?" part of the title.  You may be thinking that you aren't that kind of person.  the kind of person who doesn't get offended easily.  Allow me to take a moment to convince you that you could actually be that kind of person.  Say you're having a conversation with--let's say--Billy.  (Sorry to any Billy's who may be reading this.  It's the first name I thought of, so you should be honored...don't get offended. ;) )  You start off the conversation with the normal, "Oh, hey Billy!  How are you?"  (Billy) "I'm fine.  How has that report you've been doing coming along?"  First, he didn't ask you how you were, only about your report.  Then when he does inquire after your well-being, (fancy talk for "ask you how you are"), he asks not how you are, but how your paper is.  "Oh yeah?  I'll show him!"   "It's fine."  (The one-word answer cold shoulder.)

Do you have that one person in your life that you absolutely cannot stand?  Do you ever talk to them? If so, it probably wasn't in a very friendly way.  Let's just be honest here.  You may have had a cold shoulder toward them, or maybe you were fake friendly.  Whichever way you did it, you went into it already being offended--by their existence.  You don't like that person, so you have already preordained the fact that you don't like them and you are willing and ready to show it.  It's like carrying a pistol with you everywhere you go.  Ready to draw it at every turn.  "Offension" is the same way.

So to conclude, don't take offense at everything that could be offensive.  Like I've obviously proven, ;) you will end up spending all of your time getting offended because people say things subconsciously that they don't even realize could be offensive.  The person who gets easily offended is like a person who sees an electric fence and touches it.  You now know the fence is there, but you just really want to get to the other side, so you touch it again--and again, and again.  Over and over until you become old, decrepit and cranky.  Do you really want to be "that old mean person?"  I don't think so.

So, you could be the type of person who gets easily offended without even knowing about it!  Hopefully, I've enlightened you if you are.  (Start realizing in conversations if you get offended and ask why?)  Also, if you know you are one who gets offended easily, then take into account what I've said, the fact that it's true and try to change next time.  If you aren't one who gets offended regularly, don't start now!  Stay away from the electric fence.

Sincerely,
TheNerdInGlasses

The Sea

The sound of the fearsome waves crashing all around
Not a soul on earth could stop the sound.
Pirates roam the restless shores
Who's battered sand tells no more
The tales it once did.
Of sea monsters and mermaids alike
All killed by a vengeful plight.
Under the Whitecaps there rests a world unscathed by human hand.
All the creatures of the sea unite to make a band.
An army like none other all under this deep blue.
And no one has a clue!
Storms rage as lightning cracks
Waves swell beyond their max
Before breaking into spray.
At night--what a wonderful sight
Pinks and blues,
Cotton candy hues.
None can determine where sky and water meet.
A painting by the greatest Artist ever known!
Clouds aimlessly roam and quickly get whisked away.
Just to think, all this in one day.
Ah, what a beautiful thing it must be...the sea...
Yes, very beautiful indeed.

Sincerely,

The Giant of Cryptocurrency

In March of this year, great 2017, I began a conversation with my oldest brother about the ever-growing cryptocurrency world.  It began with a simple question: "So what exactly is Ethereum?"  After that, it progressed with nothing but the utmost of interest from this very eager, unemployed 14 year old.
I began delving into this new world and experimenting with what I could invest.  Apparently there wasn't an age limit on who could invest.  This took me by extreme surprise and I continued on by asking if there was a limit on the amount you could invest.  Again, the answer was no.  Wow!  No age limit or money limit?  Could this be possible?  Why yes, it could be.  So after finally convincing my Dad that this could be a really cool experience, I proceeded to invest a mere $5.  It didn't even count up to one Ethereum, but it didn't matter.  This was an experiment...right?  I mean, I didn't really expect anything to happen.  But, lo and behold, day after day my investment grew in worth.  $5 turned into $10 then $20, and so on until I had almost $50!  After about the first month I actually slowly lost interest in what I had invested and let it sit in my account whether it be gaining or losing, it didn't really matter.  Later I opened my Coinbase app to see how much my money was worth.  Could I be seeing things?  How was that possible?!  My minuscule $5 had turned into $90!  I was so happy.  I thought about cashing out that very instant.  My finger momentarily hovered over the "sell" button while my brain comprehended what I was about to do.  No, no.  I couldn't sell without consulting my Dad.  When I did, he said it would be best to hold because what's the point of holding any money if you're just going to take it out a month or two after investing?  So I waited patiently and once again had minimal interest.  It just so happened that the next time I opened my Coinbase app to see what my money was worth, it had dived down into the $50 range again.  Ugh.  Oh well.  I'd let it just sit and rot in my account again.
Now back to present day.  What day is it again?  Oh yeah...I never want to eat a bite of food again.  It's the day after Thanksgiving.  I had been tracking my ETH more recently as it has been gradually going up into the $90's again.  I woke up at 8:50 am and wondered around my social media's for awhile before walking into the kitchen of my Grandmother and clicked on my Coinbase app.  Patiently awaiting my hopes and dreams to be crushed naturally assuming that it had dived again.  A slight sigh and a roll of the eye may have escaped my depressed body as I waited for the loading wheel to spin around.  Finally it came u--p?  Um...can I take a moment to just pass out and jump up and down from excitement?  My Ethereum...recall that I invested $5 in March...had now reached $101.83!!!  The first time it had hit $100.
Now you may be wondering, "Okay so what.  You're Ethereum hit $100 for the first time.  Good for you!  Now tell me why did you waste this five minutes of my life to tell me something I have very little (if any) care about.  Besides, this doesn't benefit me any so why would I care?"
Well my good fellow, I will tell you.  I wrote this post for anyone who may be hesitating to invest in any cryptocurrency.  First of all, don't be afraid to get advise from other people.  There are so many coins that you could invest in.  Always remember that the longer you leave your investment in your account, the better.  You're in this for the long-term profit, not the gain a dollar or two profit.  If I, a now fifteen year old unemployed teen can invest a mere $5 and gain $100, so can you!  Let this be your calling to emerge from the doubts that hold you and enter the crytpocurrency age armed with the confidences of one who has experienced the opulence.

You Can't Be You

What if someone told you that you could no longer be yourself.  Sounds kind of odd doesn't it?  Well in today's culture being a teenager is hard.  No, it isn't as hard as living in Venezuela with no clean water and a meal once a day, but it's difficult to know where to fit in and how.  I personally know many people who are struggling with that very thing even now!  The problem is people.  Yes, people.  They may not say it directly, but they tell you how to act and how to dress.  If you really think about it, that's the equivalent of saying you can't be you because I'm telling you to be someone different.  I think that YouTube is a big hit.  I love YouTube and use it all the time, so I'm not bashing it.  However, YouTuber's today have an extremely sharp example on teenagers.  Adults are also affected, but not in such an extreme way.  In teenager years, you are "figuring" out which way you want to go with your life.  When YouTuber's do whatever they want and say they can do it because they're adults, they have to realize that they're lives are not the only one's on the line.
For instance, fad-setting is a biggy and sometimes even a goody, but if I could tell you the innumerable amount of fads that are big today, my blog space would be already filled.  To spare time I will only list a few: fidget spinners, slime, crop-tops, skinny-jeans, binge-watching, diets, neon, dabbing, literally all social media, the word 'literally', and so much more nonsense.
Now if you're into this kind of stuff and actually like it, then go for it!  However, you'd be surprised how many people are doing these things because so-and-so did it.  Some fads are great, like I said, but beware of the life-changing ones.  Vape, tatoos, drugs, etc.  I know those are very extreme, but I'm just trying to get a point across here.  That point is, be yourself.  Let me pause and take a moment to reenact every Disney movie ever.  Seriously though, I don't mean to sound like some yoga-pant-wearing millennial who thinks "being yourself" and drinking booz is the only way to flip off the world.  (And no, don't flip off the world, it isn't nice...)  In this instance, being yourself means following your own styles and just letting loose.  Of course you need to follow standards.  If being yourself is running around the mall naked shouting about half-priced jeans, then maybe the "real" you shouldn't be quite introduced yet.  Don't be afraid to be different.  Set your own fashion trends.  Be yourself.  Just because Ava or Lauren or Liza does it, doesn't mean you need to do it too.  If you'll excuse me, I'll get off my soapbox for now.  Thanks for listening to my little splurge on being yourself.  Remember, living harder isn't always better than living smarter.

The Slaughter of Speech

The tongue is the most powerful thing in the human body.  It can build up, tear down, or anything in between.  When we say things without thinking, we not only bring guilt upon ourselves, but we also can harm the other person in a way much deeper than we know.  It could even shake their self-confidence in a bad way.
This being said, speak only things that build up and encourage others.  When we speak, we speak from the heart.  This can be a very dangerous thing, as we are all wretched and cold-hearted sinners.  Accordingly, what we say can easily be offensive.  Take that bad energy and turn it into good, speaking in a powerful and inspiring way.  Be an example to those who like to use slaughtering speech.

The Female Sex

Proving yourself when young is always a challenge.  Proving yourself as a woman is likewise challenging.  So, being a young woman is the challenge of the century!  Strive hard and play smart.  The one with a quick wit but even temper always has the upper hand.  Least you must remember that things not said can be more beneficial than those said.  Likewise, at certain times, things not said can be hurtful.  Like a form of the silent treatment.  A good woman will work, but a great woman will strive.  Be the great woman and strive in all you do.  So proving yourself will not even be considered because everyone is simply caught up in how hard of a worker you really are!
As far as the opposite sex goes, choose men carefully, for they can either make you, or break you.  In marriage, choose extremely carefully as this choice can be made only once in a lifetime.  Do not pick in shallowness, based off of looks.  However, be considerate!  Of your children that is.  They'll have his looks too, you know, so don't count solely on your own good charm.

Pertaining to Music

Song is the heart of all.
If you have no heart, you have not song.
If you have not song, you likewise have no heart.
These parables I speak to you because I have a very musically inclined family.
If you surround yourself with these beautiful melodies, you will be a happier person.
So next time someone hums, do not get mad and snap but instead join the merry occasion and sing along.
If you know not the words, I find saying "watermelon" is a very convincing way of not looking utterly ignorant.
There is a song for any mood or occasion, so do not be afraid to simply look them up.
Beware, however, as there are many sketchy songs on the market nowadays.
All this to say: music is at the heart of happiness.
So, cheer up old chap.
Put a smile on that cheeky face of yours and sing a little tune.

The "Bling" of Agony

Hello my dear friends!  I recently had the opportunity to just sit down and write, probably for an hour or more.  I was bored and had forgotten my phone, so I thought why not just write?  I wrote a series of short maunders that I am quite proud of and wanted to share with you. I will post them each in a separate blog post because I don't want one super long one.

The "Bling" of Agony

Smoke filled skies send up cries of pain

As everyone gathers to mourn in vain.
Some people weep, others just sit in silence.
What charade is this that causes us to miss
All the importance in this peculiar life?
We drown ourselves with self-pitying thoughts
When really deep inside our grief is not wrought.
On the surface it will lie and stay
Like a mask to cover the insecurity of the day.
Some call it depression, or a hole.
I call it a soul
Which is writhing in grief over the little things.
Do you not see these fake gestures which everyone brings
To a table already filled with cards?
As for those who know of what I speak,
Congratulations! you have a head start to fix that of which you wreak.
For those who sit bewildered at my speech,
Here is a broader picture, which hopefully your mind can reach:
Many youngsters of society seem to think
That their minds do not tick the tink of security.
So, throwing themselves down into mood swings
They simply call it depression as a bling to catch your eye.
Why do they lie like this?
We do not know, but hope you'll think of this
In the future before you show depression as a cover for self-pity.
-The End-

My Insights on Hiding Along with Food Evolution

Sometimes, I write things. Well that part is obvious, seeing as how I have a blog. However, sometimes I write silly things. Not because I can't think of anything else to write, but because I want to use my imagination to express feelings. I truly believe that writing is a way to communicate with people that has that feeling and "umph" that spoken words never could. So, with that rather dramatic entrance, here is what I wrote. I hope you like it! :)

My Insights on Hiding
Shame!  Dishonesty!  These are my thoughts and insights on hiding.  No, I am not referring to literal hiding, (okay, technically I am)  I suppose the word would be physical hiding.  Even the most dishonest of hiding's are simply horrific.  Suppose a child were to have a book he/she likes to read very much.  They then take their study book with them to the lounging chair and "read" it thoroughly, but all the while having the fiction novel inside the larger book to conceal it.  Hiding could be put into much better terms, such as: dishonesty, lying, non-submission, and the sorts.  Although I do suppose that dishonesty and lying are much the same.  However, not completely.  Or at least not in my point of view.  I must have these slightly odd phases where I wish to write on something completely out of the ordinary when I am not pinned in a corner of having to "stay in the lines" or have it a certain length.  Writing is a way of de-stressing and letting loose.  I believe I am quite through.

Food.  In today's culture, we have quite a lot of it, and in insanely immense quantities.  Practically everywhere you look is overcome by the edible substance in one form or another.  At your house, you can simply look in your pantry/storage room, at the store…where else would you buy food?  Outside in the deathly hollows of mother-nature wilderness?  Well, my friend, I hate to stun you, but that is the very first place that food was brought into existence.  Was it born?  Perhaps.  It all depends on your imagination….or your sanity.  I'll have you know that I get them confused quite regularly.  Where was I?  Ah, yes the food.  You see, in the beginning there was food, and the liquid was with the food and the food was the food.  That doesn't sound quite right….Well in any matter, food came into existence and no matter how hard we human beings try, there is absolutely no escaping it!  And it would do some of us jolly well to avoid it altogether.  Perhaps it all started with a strawberry.  Yes, you red correctly.  A little read strawberry with miniscule seeds so small, that not the tiniest of meelins can see them.  What are meelins?   We'll get to that a bit later.  This strawberry's name was per-say…..Alhom.  Alhom had eyes, nose, ears, and mouths just like we do.  What was that?  Oh yes I quite meant to right mouths, as he had too.  One in the front and one in the back.  That way, he could carry on too conversations at once, you see.  It really was quite an ingenious invention.

Alhom grew from a tall, sad, slumped over tree in the smack-dap-middle of the island Glugose.  After he was grown, he got tired of hanging there all alone, so he hopped out of his tree in search of other little read strawberries just like himself.  When he looked the hole wworld over and found not a single living strawberry but himself, (yes, tis true all the other little read strawberries were dead) he decided to make one himself.  He carefully picked out one of his own miniscule seeds and sat it on the ground to think.  Then he had a marvelous kaplunc in his gonnin!  He jumped with joy and grabbed the seed as he hastened back to his tree.  He carefully dug a whole, and buried the seed deep into the moist blanc.  After a while, he decided to take a nap, for his journey had thoroughly tired him.  He woke to a sharp pike in the poke.  He jolted up and looked round.  He saw a little read strawberry just like himself!  After discussing the matter with her, (for it was indeed female) he came to the conflution that she had grown from his own little seed.  They gradually began to levitate into love and had children.  Of course they didn't have children out of wedlock, but strawberries cannot be married like humans, because that would just be nonsense!  And that, my friend, is how the world became populated with food.  How did we get so much food from strawberries?  Have you never heard of evolution?  Of course not of the human race.  Of food!  You should surely reed it sometime, as it is quite a jolly good story.  And now, I must be off.  I have a strawberry garden to attend to, and they are of the upmost importance to me.  Besides…they did begin the world, as the world revolves around food.  At least, for people who are quite obese.

The E.A.M.

"Oh please!  Your generation is so lazy and consumed in your electronic devices.  If you grew up in my time, you'd be sweeping the floor or helping in the fields, or something to help the family gain income.  Nowadays, you kids have these fidget circles--and uh--Instachat and what's that one with the face things--oh yes!--Snapgram?"

If you were born in 1999-2002, and are living in this modern day society as a high school attending teenager, you have probably heard something along these lines.  I'm sure that every person at some point in there lives have been given this lecture no matter how hard they strive to act otherwise.  My volleyball coach once said,
"I'm sure you all are tired of hearing people say crap about your generation, am I right?  Well I'll let you in on a little secret.  Every generation has been talked down to because of reasons which are specific to them.  So if you just accept the fact that there are always going to be "haters" then you'll be okay."
Now don't get me wrong...I'm definitely not one to say 'embrace your inner self because that's who you truly are.'  I do believe that our generation is simply too involved in the next best thing, especially when it comes to electronics.  However, because of the times that we have been raised in, we are naturally expected to excel in things of this age.  Let me put it this way.  "Acquiring skills on the latest technologies helps better students to become better collaborators, communicators, critical thinkers, innovators, problem solvers and citizens of our global economy.  More than 50% of today's jobs require some degree of technology skills, and experts say that percentage will increase to 77% in the next decade."
The last generation should be the ones to understand most of all because they saw the beginnings of this unavoidable movement.  What movement?  The movement I like to call the E.A.M.  Also known as, the Electronic Age Movement.

Now you might be asking yourself, "I've never heard of such a thing...E.A.M.--please.  Probably just some dramatic teenager trying to get attention."
Yes, and no.  It may not be an official thing as of yet, but it is definitely lying right under the surface, too delusive to be noticed and yet just clear enough for the older generations to see.  Why do they notice?  Because it is true when they were growing up they had to help out around the house and help the family in their income, but, just like us, they were just slightly different too.  Always having the next best thing because that's what was available to them.  Now we simply follow in their footsteps a little uniquely and we are critiqued and judged?
No.  I believe that the older generations are simply afraid of the E.A.M., thus having a just cause in panicking when they see teens constantly on media.  Who knows?  Maybe one day all jobs will be run by machines or robots.  That is not the case today, so there is absolutely no need to freak out about something that isn't even happening yet.  Albeit, I do not deny that very many teenagers abuse their electronics by being on social media far too often.

My point in this prolonged argument, is this: The E.A.M. is coming, in the near future.  Is it here yet?  No.  Also, I agree with the statement that teenagers are on devises too often, but in the world they're growing up in, how are they (we) expected to completely seclude themselves?  A new thing isn't always a bad thing.  Take automobiles for instance.  I'm sure that in 1886 when the very first automobile was created, there were some people out there who were very skeptical.  Perhaps they were even afraid.  Maybe they thought that everyone should just revert back to the old ways with horse and buggy.  Was this a good thing?  Once again, no.  If time had traveled backwards instead of forward, we would be caught in an endless time loop with horses and buggies, suits, and top hats of the past.  I don't know about you, but I certainly don't want that to be the case.  So sometimes it's just better to accept things for the way they are and try to make the best of it.  You never know, it could just be for our benefit.  After all, as the saying goes, "All things are difficult before they are easy."
In conclusion, let us dwell on a famous quote by the well respected Thomas Fuller.  "He that fears not the future may enjoy the present."

Yours sincerely,
