Clouds

Oh my gosh, you guys...I'm actually not dead haha! 😂  I've been a little busy with an important thing called life so I haven't really had the time to blog...in a while.  But now with all this quarantine going on, and because of a stunningly beautiful cloud-filled sunset, I became very inspired.
I recently bought a book at a fabulous little store in Maryville called Five Bellow.  Everything in the store is--you guessed it--five dollars or below.  Amazing!  This book was a poetry journal meant to help inspire its owner to write beautiful works of art.  There are prompts on each page to get you thinking about what you can write, as well as a word association on the side to include in the poem to challenge the writer a bit.  It is also helpful in case you find yourself inspired, but at a lack of flowery, poetic words--a quandary in which I often find myself.
Anyway, to keep what was meant to be a short story long, I bought the book and haven't really been motivated to use it.  The first time I pulled it out, the thoughts just weren't flowing.  So tonight, on this brisk, beautiful evening, I adventured outside to lumber around if we're being honest...nothing particular in mind...but I brought this piece of work with me as well as an engaging C.S. Lewis book to keep me company in case inspiration didn't.  The sun started sinking behind our glorious Smoky Mountains and dazzling rays of pinks and blues broke out across the sky.  The atmosphere was dotted with puffy white, pink, purple, and blueish hue clouds.  Certainly, with all this majesty surrounding me, I could find something in my brain to probe myself to write.  I flipped through my book and behold!!  On the second page, the prompt said Clouds.  Aha!!  I had beaten my inspiration block at last.  Staring into the beauty the thoughts gushed out.  So, without further ado, my poem:

Clouds:
Clouds cover the sky like a spotted blanket
All scurrying the same direction for a banquet.
They swarm the sky like locusts but none the same...
Each has a story to tell with its billows tame.
But far they are from that--when delight is had
Anger fills the glorious puff--to see majesty go--sad
Alas, the anger is more powerful and majestic still.
At first, a slight mist, then Creation cowers at its will.
Thunderheads loom into sight.
Nothing can tame this incredible might.
Lightning cracks and thunder booms,
A sound so loud it could vaporize moons.
All the names that science can give:
Nebulous, cumulous, they are all nature's sieves.
Nourishing the strong or cutting down the weak.
Such beauty containing such violence--my.
But at the end of the day, they do not die.
They rise like ancient warriors on light's beautiful rays
Bringing hope for the future, another day.

The Dark King

Welp I guess the rainy fall weather has gotten my mind into flowery story mode because I have another short story.  :)  I think this is the ...
